Bookdiary #4

How's the book going?

Actually pretty good. I am one-fifth through. Still, I am working on the ending, but eventually, it will be part of the middle part. Currently, I read "Beach Read" by Emil Henry. It's cool and cheeky. Another one which I read was "If I never met you" by Mhairi McFarlane.

Wow, this book really got me, the storyline was different, the environment of a lawyers firm and the story that her man left here after 18 years was a shocking moment to the reader - so me :-D - and therefore there was a straight connection, a straight empathy or identification with the character. Why identification - it can happen to everybody, right?

So I came to the point, why people eventually reading books?

My thoughts on that...

They do read to escape from the moment and daily life. They read for entertainment. They read to build their own world or movie set around the story. This is different from actually watching a movie, where every set-up is already made out.

The story in my first book plays in London but went to Brighton for a short trip to reset the mind. To loosen up the writer's block and see more of the United Kingdom.

Why I did choose this set-up? I imagine myself to be there. To write a book there. To learn from the people around there. To stroll around the city and the suburbs. Also, I can imagine the cafe scene is pretty big and nostalgic there. The inspiration came from different channels I saw online. They've been posting loads of cafes pictures, inside and outside, so beautiful, so perfect to sit down, watch people walking by, read a book, think about life, write your own stories, be lost in your imagination.

Clara loves the scene and decided to go to London as she dreamed about it for a long time. It was time for a change. She wanted to escape from her past, but that was not possible because she was meeting people who made her reliving the past over and over. Maybe it was the right timing for something else. To finish off with the past instead of running away. On her trip to Brighton, she felt right about the assumption somebody was spying on her. The guy who hurt her suddenly wants to figure things out. And Tom, the author who helps with her writing journey urgently needs support from her. All at once.

Weekends are my only writing windows - it's not easy for being in the mood during weekdays. Let's see if I can find back to "the space" once the cafes are opening again and there will be more environment options.

Hear you soon!
