About routines. Bookdiary #5

I AM OVER 20.000 WORDS YEAH.

I realized the less I write the harder it gets to get back to it. But for a book and for the story I somehow feel you need to be or at least to get into the mood.

And once I skip a weekend of writing, so usually my goal is >1000 words I need to keep up with double the amount the weekend after. Usually, I do not skip because I don't want to, it is because I have something else indispensable to do - mostly guests are crossing my plans.

Therefore it is even more important to arrange some tools around writing, maybe even scheduling it on weekdays. For now - it just hard to think about Logistics from 9-5 and then switch off the mind and think about love, drama, magic, purpose, twists, travel, life, writers, libraries and London....

Do you understand me?

All of that is just in my head, I know that. I could try to schedule at least on hour a day before I go to sleep. Or even one hour in the morning before I start working. With only one goal, write as much as you can to get this book forward.

Let's calculate roughly right now. We assume my book will be about 250 pages (I'm currently reading novels with 300+ pages and have to say that's too much for me, I want to know the result much sooner in less reading time) and I am writing 1000 words every weekend which are about 5 pages...

current state:

74 pages - 3 months - March

weekend state:

20 pages - 1 month

future state:

100 pages - 5 months

250 pages -  12,5 months

So yeah, it's one year for one book - ONLY WRITING (Note: as a part-time writer!).

That means if I continue with the same pace I will be finishing my book in 9,5 months - so approx. by December.

BUT I want to remind you - there is huuuuge additional part too!

The EDITING. At the moment I'm considering finding an editor with mother tongue (British) English - whatever the cost. (Ok, hold on... not whatever but I assume it to be super expensive - but it's my first book, so... come on, I need the advice... I mean support.)

Also, I have an idea to let the book translate into german, as many of my friends would rather buy a german book ;-)

Weird mind: I am actually having a new story in mind with a completely different set-up... should I start it in parallel - so that the ideas are captured for now? For... who knows... you know... another book?)

So back to the story...

Clara was in Brighton to hopefully break her writer's block. To stop running away, she met the guy she promised herself she would never see again in her life. They spend time together and potentially too much time. Maybe, she is regretting it. Maybe. On the train on the way back it happened again that she has been a victim to the humor of life. After she came back to London, Tom was already waiting for her...

Ladies and gentlemen. Do you also feel like a victim to the humor of life? I do. Quite often.

Hear you soon!
