Everything you can imagine is real

Pablo Picasso is a genius.

You may have already heard about it, we are building a house in Portugal, which is only five minutes away from the beach.

As we plan the flooring, the walls and interior...with time passing by there are coming up new ideas. And the main question is how to spend the maximum time possible in this house?

There is this one idea sitting in our heads... the obsessive cafe lovers we are.

My boyfriend loves to cook and he is very good at it - almost a magician at the stove ;-) we had the idea to eventually open up a cafe in our yard. We have a garage with can be used to store all the cafe EQ. Partly could be inside and partly outside. The garage is planned to be with concrete walls. I can already imagine an industrial look with dark wood structures for the cafe in a half-closed, half-open cozy space.

Of course, we have a chef already found so I can take over service and improve my barista skills. Latte art is a must for a cafe - not only due to marketing reasons.

We'll be serving coffee, breakfast, and brunch. Maybe even lunch. Let's see. The opening hours could be from 9am to 3pm (as there is still a beach waiting for us hehe).

At 8am there could be a morning pop-up yoga and afterwards, the hungry yogis can drop by the cafe downstairs and enjoy a fresh roasted latte or a refreshing smoothies and choose between fruit bowls, avocado toast with scrambled eggs or fresh rolled cinnamon rolls for breakfast... the ideas are endless and the menu constantly changing.

After everybody is gone by midday to enjoy a fresh breeze at the beach the cafe employees will do the same.

I'd not consider this work, more a hobby - or even a lifestyle.

This year is planned for setting everything up. And next year could be the grand opening. First shot was opening for a month during summer. If people like the idea, there are possibilities to expand the opening period from one to two months or even three months during summer (if our job will allow that amount of absense of course - but as said in the beginning - everything is possible and I'd add - everything is negotiable!) And as there will be an income from the cafe the absense or unpaid leave from the job at home equals.

There is still research to be done, but the motivation is there. Let's see if the government makes it possible too... alternative, which we would have considerd as a step two is to buy or rent an old/ small place at the beach. Everything to be detailed, soon.
