Drama or Consistency? Bookdiary #2

Drama. Every good story needs it. You might wanna know how my story is going. I figured out a drama scene and was ready to smash the keys and move the story forward, fill the pages. This was it. The twist I was hoping for and was hearing so much of it in the latest master classes. Twists are necessary to keep the reader turn the pages by holding the  tension. And boom, my eBay selling offer of my current and old laptop got a seller!!

No laptop, no writing? Indeed, I know that is not an excuse.

But you know, routines are important too. And one part of it is the location. I used the kitchen table during daytime and the corner of the couch at nighttime with some chilled music in the background.

Environment can be used as a trigger for habits.

While trying to establish writing habits, it’s not the same while using the phone or even my business laptop. There is a mental issue. My brain can’t switch off, it can’t stop thinking about open issues at work.

So second point to support habits is Equipment

Noise cancelling headphones would fit into this category (best thing ever!).

Maybe some of you assumed that the most important thing is the mood. Yes, I agree the mood is definitely important. But what to do if you are just not in the mood. And if this “no mood situation” takes weeks - even months?

The key here is called Consistency

Consistency pushes you through the process of good and weak days. Write or learn or train  - whatever goal you try to achieve - every day, push yourself though. This results in forming a habit while sticking to your plan to bring projects to the final end. Push yourself though, day by day by day.

If you will schedule your private goals as you do with your business meetings you could train your brain to stick to it the same way.

So, yeah I broke my habit with a cheap excuse. But you know what? I am still on fire and can’t wait till my new computer arrives. The new one comes with more speed - rĂ¡pido! (seen too much of narcos lately) and lighter weight so I can take it everywhere I go, if god eh covid will. Can’t wait for the cafes to open again!

Does this pass as a bookdiary?

Mais ou menos.
